On 20 May 2026, President of the Republic of Finland Alexander Stubb visited NestAI at our Helsinki office.
During the visit, President Stubb saw NestOS in action. NestOS is our adaptive operating system for the modern battlefield, enabling defence systems that keep learning from operational data and evolving long after deployment.
Europe is at an inflection point. The continent is rebuilding its defence capacity at speed, but speed alone is not enough. Most defence AI is deployed as static capability, unable to evolve once fielded. Too much of it also depends on closed, non-European platforms where capability evolution remains with the vendor, not the operator.
The need for adaptive AI capability that Europe can control has never been more urgent. It is no longer a question of whether AI defines the next generation of defence systems. It is who builds it, who controls it, whether it adapts when conditions change, and whose values it operates under.
Finland understands this better than most. It sits at the centre of New Nordic defence integration, on the Eastern Flank where the stakes are highest and where allied interoperability is not an aspiration but an operational requirement. NestOS is built for exactly this: open by architecture, adaptive by design, and governed by those who depend on it.
NestAI’s work spans allied nations across the region, partners who share the same threat picture and the same requirement for systems that work under pressure.
We are grateful for the visit and for what it signals about where European defence AI is heading.
