Company

NestAI builds the adaptive operating system for modern battlefield operations. Most AI systems are built once, validated at deployment, and expected to stay sufficient after that. That assumption holds until conditions change, and in defence, they always do. Our team develops adaptive intelligence for unmanned and command systems: AI that continuously learns from operational data and adapts to changing conditions, deployed in environments where there is no internet, no GPS, and failure is not an option. NestOS, our open, modular, and interoperable platform, enables this at scale and keeps capability evolution under sovereign European control.

Founded in 2025 by Peter Sarlin, whose previous company Silo AI became Europe's largest AI acquisition, NestAI has grown to over 200 engineers and scientists and partners with leading European defence forces and industry. We're ambitious about what we're building and honest with each other. The bar is high, and so are the standards we hold ourselves to. But this is also a place built on humility, trust, and looking after each other. If that sounds like the kind of work you want to do, keep reading.

Role Description

As UX/UI Designer, you'll shape the interfaces for new capabilities built on NestOS and for new functionality added to our C2 product line, while contributing closely to one of our customer engagements.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Design user interfaces for new plugins and capabilities built on NestOS.
  • Design UI for new functionality added to NestAI's product lines.
  • Build prototypes to validate design concepts with stakeholders before implementation.
  • Translate complex technical capabilities into intuitive, usable interfaces for operational users.
  • Collaborate closely with product and engineering teams as part of customer engagements.

Qualifications

  • Experience in UX/UI or product design, with a strong portfolio of UI design and prototyping work.
  • Hands-on experience with UI prototyping and design tools.
  • Experience designing for technical or complex software products is a plus.
  • Comfortable working on-site at Tampere, with frequent visits to customer premises as part of this engagement.

If your background doesn't match every requirement but the work resonates with you, we'd encourage you to apply. How you think, learn, and take ownership matters more to us than ticking every box.

Build the systems that protect what matters most

Battlefields evolve faster than the systems built to counter them. European defence needs AI that keeps pace with threats and remains under sovereign control. That technology largely doesn't exist yet, and NestAI is building it.

For our people, that means working on problems that are genuinely novel, on systems that carry real weight. If you want your work to matter beyond the screen, this is where that work happens.

The adaptive operating
system for modern battlefield operations.

Edge delivers autonomy for unmanned platforms in signal-denied, GPS-denied environments. Core is the command and control and orchestration layer that fuses multi-sensor data into a unified operational picture. Engine runs across both, continuously turning operational data into deployed intelligence and keeping capability current as the battlefield changes.

Partners across European defence forces and industry are already building on it.

Ownership is the expectation

Ownership at NestAI is not a talking point. It is how the company operates. You take responsibility for outcomes, make decisions with imperfect information, and adapt when the ground shifts. The work is demanding and the pace is high - because the problems we solve require it.

It is not always easy, but it’s deeply rewarding.

“We develop technology that has to keep evolving, because the adversary evolves too. It's a constant cycle of adaptation and counter-adaptation. You never run out of things to do.”

- Chinh, Member of Technical Staff
